What your wifi speed test results mean
Download speed is how fast data comes to your device. Upload is how fast you send data out. Ping is how quickly your connection responds — critical for gaming and video calls. Jitter is how consistent your ping is over time — high jitter causes calls to stutter and games to feel unpredictable even when average ping looks fine. All four metrics are explained in plain English on the results screen, matched to your specific use case.

Wifi speed test benchmarks for 2026
What counts as a good wifi speed test result has changed as more households run multiple 4K streams, video calls, and cloud gaming simultaneously. This tool uses current benchmarks: 500 Mbps download scores an A, 200 Mbps scores a B, 100 Mbps scores a C. For ping, under 20ms is excellent, 20 to 49ms is good, 50ms or more starts to cause problems for real-time applications. Upload and jitter are scored on the same tiered system.

One fix, not a list
After your wifi speed test results are scored, the tool gives you one action — not five things to try. The single most impactful fix based on your actual numbers. If your download is low, it suggests switching to the 5 GHz band. If jitter is high, it points to router firmware. If ping is the problem, it tells you to plug in an Ethernet cable for the device where it matters most.
