LUSRMGR.MSC opens Local Users and Groups, the tool for the moment someone’s locked out or needs their account rebuilt from scratch, letting you see and manage every local account on the machine in one window. SERVICES.MSC pulls up the Services console, where every background process Windows depends on is listed, started, and stopped, the first place to check when something that’s supposed to be running quietly isn’t, or something that shouldn’t be running is eating resources it has no business touching.

GPEDIT.MSC opens the Local Group Policy Editor, for changes that need to apply across the entire machine rather than one user’s settings. Worth knowing this tool only shows up on Pro and Enterprise editions, Home users get the reference without the console. NET LOCALGROUP ADMINISTRATORS lists every account currently sitting in the local admin group, the command for the moment you need to know exactly who has the keys before deciding who shouldn’t.

None of these four get explained casually. They’re the ones an admin already has memorized and rarely says out loud, which is exactly why they read differently printed on a mug than buried in a support wiki.
